You have to install it *alongside* OS9.  No need to reformat at all.

Dave McG has ISO images I beleive; otherwise I can make 10.0, 10.1 upgrade
images and 9.1 images.

(you install OS9 like normal, then install OSX alongside it, and can
boot to either..)
