But, like vue meters on audio equipment, some people just like the feel
and look of a nice Simpson meter.  For "that's about right" measurements
I prefer the quick readability of a needle, even over a good bar graph. 
Of course most DMMs have very high input impedance, so if precision
matters a DMM will affect thge circuit under test less, and there is no
possible way to get 3 digits of precision with even a good mirrored
meter.
