I have been tasked with teaching our ops/admins the basics of networking.
While playing a game of toss with 6 people and three hackysacs I think I
figured out how to explain the basics of communications and the types of
problems all protocols/topologies face.

1) Have everybody toss hackysacs to whomever they wish and hope they catch
them.

2) Have the throwers announce they are throwing.

3) Have the throwers announce they are throwing and to whom.

4) Have the throwers tell the catchers they would like to throw and are they
ready to catch.

5) Grant rotating permission to the person to your right to throw if they
wish to throw.

6) Have two people throw to each other simultaneously.

7) Have everyone throw to a designated catcher at the tic of 5 second
intervals.

8) Have one thrower toss a ball down a line of catchers while designating
who should reach out and catch it each time.

Does anyone have other clever ways of illustrating datacomm?
