Ahem.  While some of the Macs were questionable, most of the older Macs were
pretty good.  In particular the Quadras (especially the AVs) rocked.

Some of them were downright clever.  A lot of people bought SE/30s because
they did a decent job of replacing much more expensive Sun or HP workstations
(true, small screen size, but able to hold lots of ram and possesing a fast
processor).  My only real complaint about them was the few brain dead ideas
(like some of the cost cutting measures in the II), and the OS which lacked 
memory protection.  And that was only a major problem if you used buggy 
applications or did development in C or other machines allowing for such
low level hardware manipulation.
 
Personally, I think the G3 chips are nice.  I really detest all the desktop
cases since (and including) the B&W G3, except for the Cube.  And all the
iMacs are really ugly also.
