No idea, then.  Can't you insert raw LaTeX into your document's preamble
somewhere?

I quit using LyX because it kept getting in the way like this.  What I
gave you is the raw TeX commands to manipulate the margins.  After
googling a bit, I can't find out how to do this from within LyX's
pseudo-TeX.  You'd think it'd be a FAQ.

Here's a kludge involving center-alignment and minipages, but it won't
work on a document-global scale, unless LyX has a different concept of
minipage than TeX does:
