I've been racking my brains trying to figure out where my allergy to
using 3com NICs in servers comes from and I can't remember. But I do
know that 3com cards get mentioned on the Snort users list as causing
problems (dropping packets).
If a 3com puts an extra .005% of load on the server *per packet*, what
kind of load are you going to see on a server processing 120Mbps over 3
NICs ? Most servers won't see that kind of traffic, but some do (that
120Mbps figure is from one of my servers).
