I've owned vehicles of all sizes. The largest one that I had 'for no
particular reason' was a Chevy Suburban. I didn't buy it to go off road,
nor to intimidate other drivers, I bought it because I thought it was a
cool vehicle. I'm sorry, but to say that you're trying to intimidate
other drivers by what type of vehicle you're driving is silly. The main
reason folks buy one type of vehicle, or another is because they LIKE
it. I'm not going to argue about the fact that folks my like it because
of advertising, that's irrelevant, the fact is they like it for whatever
reason.

There's also something to be said for driving a larger vehicle for
safety reasons. In Feb. of last year I was involved in an accident with
an 18 wheel tractor-trailer while driving a Dodge 1 ton extended cab 4x4
dually, and it was totaled from the crash. Both myself, and my then
girlfriend were both hurt as a result (nothing serious, mostly just
banged around a bit), but we both walked away from it. If in the same
accident I had been driving my Mazda Miata, we both would have killed.
For that matter, chances are if we were driving one of my Dodge
Diplomats at the time, we probably would have been killed too, so in
this case, driving an oversized vehicle saved my life!

Of course I'm not going to let that fact stop me from driving my Mazda
Miata, or the Dodge pickup that I replaced the wrecked one with. As a
matter of fact, when I leave the house, unless I have a specific need
for one of my 2 current vehicles, it's a toss-up which one I'm going to
get in and drive on any particular day, it just depends on my mood, and
I don't mean if I feel like intimidating other motorists or not.
