Theoretically? In the silos is redundant sets of data, and I don't think
all the tape slots are filled. One of them belongs to one project, one
belongs to our projects and the other one is normally used I believe for
transferring between media types and such. Rumor was were supposed to get
a 4th one. Other sites such as Goddard probably already have 4 or 5 of
them so they have passed the petabyte capability.
I think the tapes store 50gb natively, so the minute a drive comes out
that does 70-80gb native then that would push it over the limit. We don't
have that much data stored in it (definitly terrabytes but there are
several copies).
It stores satellite data from the NASA Earth Observing System.
