Is the Edinburgh Fringe as much fun as I have heard? We have one
here, and it is a blast, and the last night festivities are of
similar drunkenness, though drinking is heavily involved in every
night of the 10-12 days.

Hehehehe, no.
I have only ever fallen asleep, drunk, in a public place once.
I had been doing security work at the Edinburgh Fringe (In my
Student's Union building) and it came to the end of the festivities,
we had an all night drinking sesh.
After closing at 3 AM, we started drinking.
Come 7 AM we went to find an open bar, the Standing Order, Leith
Walk.
(A good 30 minutes walk.)
Drinking a good part of a bottle of wine handed to me by a colleague,
I staggered down the road with the rest of the people. Got to the
pub,
ordered a pint of 80/- and sat down.
Then felt really ill.
Attempted a TC. Failed, so went outside for fresh air. Sat down.
Woke up at 8:30 after being asleep on the shoulder of a colleague who
had had the same fresh air idea.
The school kids who were waiting for their bus were kind of amused by
us being drunkenly asleep in suits on Leith Walk.
Got up, finished pint, went home and slept the sleep of a drunk.
