It's somewhat more complex than is implied by "brainwashing". When Hitler
rose to power, Germany was up shit creek without a paddle. He offered a
way out, and appealed to both workers and to employers, hence gaining
support from a much wider range of people than most politicians could. I
don't find it surprising that people supported him. And you have to
remember, most people would have assumed his antisemitic talk was just
that - talk.
