Well, I spent much time with the folks at Guitar Center, and I ended up 
with a Schecter "Diamond Series" C-. I liked the feel, and the sound of 
the humbucker pickups.  The strats sounded good, but I liked this 
better.  Also picked up a Crate practice amp.

I'm already having fun, I did my first chord! (Time to rest the fingers).
