" Given the Trixies I once knew, that sounded authentic. But
then I spotted some fine print on the site, a disclaimer: "In
addition to being a not-for-profit organization, the society is
also a not-for-real organization, which means something to all
you SAAB-driving, TUMI-toting junior associate lawyers out there."
So who is Ashley Seper? Some speculate that the site is the
creation of Dave Skwarczek, president and CEO of the Wicker Park-based
Streams Online Media - a six-year-old Web firm. It made news about
a year ago when it organized a successful e-mail petition against
WFLD-TV's removal of The Simpsons from its 10 p.m. slot. It's also
known for black-humor sites such as Piercing Mildred--a game that
allows users to pierce and tattoo cartoon characters.
Skwarczek insists he is not involved - though his denial betrays
a certain suspicious loathing of the Lincoln Park milieu. "If we'd done
the site," he told Chicago, "there would be a "Dead Trixies' section.""
