[geeks] massive packet loss?

I see this a lot when a Sun boxen failed to autosense the line properly.
Look at the switchport and see if its 100/full (it should be) then look at
the Sun interface and I bet it will be 100/half. I get this all the time. I
wish I could remember the command to show the interface state in Solaris,
but I usually have an admin do it, so I forget. For some reason I even see
this when the sunbox is *thought* to be 100/full locked (esp on qfe's).
Because of this, you need to look at the actually live state of the iface,
not the configuration. Usually, downing the switchport and bringing it back
up will solve the problem.

btw... switch is? systems are? You are measuring packet loss how? Your
switch fabric is how saturated? Your interswitch links (if any) are how
saturated? Your broadcast traffic is what percentage?
