When I worked for GeoCities, we used it on ~3.5TB of data, worked like a champ, used an autoloader, etc. Of course, we DID have Dr Zajac working for us, and that may have helped. ;)

The tunnel and tape span issues are valid, you should stage data in digestable chunks back to the mothership...
