Hmmm, I couldn't get a clean signal on it. Before I yanked the one line
to the master bedroom, I used two of the unused pairs for ethernet, and
had something like 40% packet loss. I *wanted* to leave it in place. I
suspect it's quite a bit more than 100 ft from the switch to the jack,
as it was running all the way across the basement and up two floors.

I have one small one (66? not home now to check) that I was going to
mount next to the patch panel on the network "rack", and the two big
boxes in the basement. I think I'm alright there.

Quite a bit prior, I would guess from the condition of the equipment.
How old could it theoretically be? The house was built in the late '40's

Cool. Maybe I'll try to find something to return it to it's former
glory. At least in the basement where the mrs. won't complain.
