[geeks] SS/5-170 is a *nice* desktop...

I am happy to report my SS/5-170 is much peppier now that I have thrown in a TGX ;^)
CDE is useable, I am keeping a Setiathome process running (no graphics), and have just installed an apache web server ( http://n2vip.dyndns.org:8080/~ken ) before I came into the office this morning.
As a reference point, for anyone interested, an SS/5-170 w/256 Meg RAM, TGX, and 2x 4 Gig HDs is a *nice* setup for CDE/OpenWindows use. Oh, and I am running Solaris 7 Desktop Edition (?) with 7_Recommended (43 Meg!) patch cluster installed. The Netscape defaults are a bit rough on a 17" monitor, but I'll be moving my 20" monster in place soon (I have to clean my office first - pictures to follow).
I was thinking about putting Solaris 2.6 in it, so I could run my SunPC (x586 model)card, but I think I'll drop that in the SS/10sx ;^)
Oh,and Jon, a CG3 is a step *up* from an AFX card? I guess I'll be posting this on eBay - they seem to fetch about $75 IIRC.

Ahh, 24 bit graphics, but s-l-o-w-l-y? I've got a TGX I pulled from the system - I'll try that instead. Would switching framebuffer to a TGX make a significant difference in Netscape 4.X on this box? (I imagine it would, but want to make sure my expectations are reasonable...)
I suppose I would simply touch /reconfigure and reboot, right? I installed the complete distribution of Solaris 7, so I should have the drivers already in place...
Thanks!
Ken

Thats why. AFX. *slow*.
