THe problem is, I *know* i have 2 or 3 of them, but cant find them
at all.

You know whats worse than cables snagging on other cables?  THose
multi-head "laplink" nullmodem cables that have both a DB9 and DB25
on each end.  I swear, you could use them as grappling hooks...
