Ah, the inevitable intros thread... :-)

Dave Fischer, 33, into computers, art, and music in about equal degrees.

I have a religious hatred of PCs (both PC hardware and of course windows)
so my home system is all RS/6000 and SUN and a few VAXstations, etc.

I've been using unix since 1986, so I've encountered a reasonably wide
range of versions. I prefer BSD. Of the BSDs, I prefer OpenBSD.

I have a really low-paying job in which I get *left* *alone* and
have it very easy. It's sort of a 50/50 computer/factory job. Very
weird situation. I like it.

I started doing computer graphics art a few years ago, by writing raw
postscript. Since then I've been mostly painting, which has gone well.
I've got about a dozen pieces up in public in various places around
town. Strangers come up to me and tell me they like my work.

I used to play guitar, got sick of it a few years ago. I'm currently
just a "scenester" as it were. I maintain the web sites for a few of my 
favourite bands. I live in Providence, which is *the* center for the
brand of weird artsy hardcore that I like. I mosh like a teenager. :-)

Also, I tend to keep odd pets. Previous: hedgehog, snake, lizard, chicken.
Current: turtle, tortoise. Plannned: sugar glider, octopus.

I don't watch TV, and I refuse to watch movies untill this stupid
"talkies" fad is over and they go back to making real films.
