Mike,
As a practical matter, do you regularly deal with more than $10K in *cash*
(you know, folding money)?
ANd doing so is not a crime, but it is a high-profile activity,a nd it is
reasonable (IMHO) to point out illegal activity. I suspect (but do not know,
I have never approached the $10K mark for a cash transaction involving a
bank or retail outlet) that there is a provision for explaining the
transaction, and that it is taken at face value.
We had a car dealer just outside Princeton that wa sselling Chevys for
*cash* and had no problem explaining to interested buyers how and where to
store "valuable" cargo from curious on-lookers. The State Police and GM shut
the dealer down, and confiscated the dealership (the cars went back to
GMAC).
