Been there. I have been known to use alarm circuits with the Adtran HDSL
boxen to do private T1 (channelized no less). It works great, thats what got
the telco's pissed. Ma Bell (and others) have secretly been negotiating with
PUC's everywhere to remove the tarrif for this type of circuit (a 401
circuit I thinks its called). So they are quickly becomming unobtanium. 

The possibilities are endless. If you know companies that still have them,
talk them into keeping them.
