I just made the mistake of looking at pricewatch.  That's it.  My sisters
peecee isn't getting any more upgrades (ram, CPU, whatever).  Why?  Duron
CPU and mobo (with sound and perhaps ethernet) starting at 85.  Certainly
beets trying to find (and paying the premium) for PC66 memory.  My how
things change.

And it all works to just make it harder for us to get actually good
machines.
