Of all the GUI mailers I've used, the only one which doesn't suck
battleships through micropore is Pegasus Mail for Windows.  It runs
under Wine if you're using Linux.  ICEmail is ... adequate if you
must run a GUI and can't run Pegasus.  It's written in Java, so should
play nicely with Solaris.

Text-wise, I've only used mutt to any great extent so can't really comment.
