TITLE: tf2207 - Allow threaded programs to use NIS-aware getgrent() README FOR: TF2207 PRODUCT AND VERSION: UnixWare 2.01 UnixWare 2.02 UnixWare 2.03 Abstract -------- This PTF contains updates to the Network Information Service (NIS). These updates allow multi-threaded programs to access NIS data for the /etc/group map. Symptom -------- A program that uses the getgrent(), getgrgidi(), getgrnam() functions will not be able to access NIS-stored group data when compiled with the threads library. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ DATATYPE: Datastream Installation Instructions 1. Download the tf2207.Z and tf2207.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Read the the release notes contained in this file and follow the instructions to add the package to your system. 3. Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using the following commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/tf2207.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/tf2207 General Description. ------------------- The updated NIS library stores the group data in the correct element of the structure so that the NIS group-searching functions will return data correctly. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF can be installed on UnixWare 2.01 UnixWare 2.02, and UnixWare 2.03 systems. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
