Abstract -------- This PTF fixes a problem with /usr/sbin/inetd that would cause various Internet utilities (ftp, rcp, rsh, and so on) to hang. Symptom -------- If more than 100 Internet connections occurred within a 2-minute interval, some of the connections would hang. This would affect such utilities as ftp, rsh, rcp, telnet, and rlogin. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- This PTF fixes a problem with /usr/sbin/inetd that would cause various Internet utilities (ftp, rcp, rsh, and so on) to hang. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF can be installed on UnixWare 2.01, 2.02, or 2.03 (when it becomes available). The "Internet Utilities" (inet) package must be installed before this PTF can be installed. If you reinstall the inet package, or you apply a UnixWare Update, you must reapply this PTF. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
