TITLE: TF2104 - adsl patch README FOR: TF2104 PRODUCT AND VERSION: UnixWare 2.01, UnixWare 2.02, UnixWare 2.03 Abstract -------- When accessing disks with greater than 512 bytes per sector media via the PDI pass-through interface, the reading and writing operations on disk sectors may not work with the adsl HBA drivers. This ptf provides a fix to properly PDI pass-through access to such disks. Symptom -------- Data corruption or system panic when accessing disks with greater than 512 bytes per sector media. Read/write operations for such disks via the PDI pass-through interface (i.e. the SDI_SEND ioctl) fail with the following message: WARNING: (adsl,1) Adaptec PCI SCSI: CH0 Data over/under run error SOLUTION SPECIFICS Apply the tf2104 file. Installation Instructions: DATATYPE: datastream 1. Download the tf2104.Z and the tf2104.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Read the release notes contained in this file. 3. Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using the following commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/tf2104.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/tf2104 General Description. ------------------- The following commands and HBA driver files will be updated by this ptf: /etc/scsi/diskcfg /etc/scsi/pdiconfig /etc/scsi/pdimkdev /etc/scsi/pdimkdtab /etc/scsi/pdiunits /etc/conf/pack.d/adsl/Driver.o /usr/include/sys/adsl.h /usr/sbin/diskformat /usr/sbin/disksetup /usr/sbin/edvtoc /usr/sbin/prtvtoc New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF can be installed on UnixWare 2.01 thru 2.03 systems which have the Adaptec SCSI IHV HBA (adsl) package installed. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions (typically in a SCO test laboratory) and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done. Hardware Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF is targeted for the i386, i486 and Pentium CPU's.
