ABSTRACT:

The ptf147 file contains PTF147 - multiports with port minor number  > 255
fail. This package has iaf/Driver.o  and ttcompat/Driver.o in pkgadd format. 
This patch requires UnixWare v1.1

SYMPTOM

Prior to this PTF, if you try to login on a port with a minor number > 255. 
You would see a message such as < UX: login setava() *avaptr failed,
LOGNAME=foo >

SOLUTION

Apply the ptf147 file.


Installation Instructions:

DATATYPE: datastream

1.  Download the ptf147.Z and the ptf147.txt files to the /tmp directory
    on your machine.

2.  Read the release notes contained in this file.             

3.  Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your 
    system using the following commands:

     $ su
     # uncompress /tmp/ptf147.Z
     # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf147 ptf147

Solution Specifics

1. General Description

These release notes acquaint you with the contents of UnixWare 
PTF147 - multiports with port minor number  > 255 fail. This package 
has iaf/Driver.o and ttcompat/Driver.o in pkgadd format.

The iaf and ttcompat drivers were modified to allow minor numbers 
greater than 255 to be used.

This driver needs UnixWare 1.1 installed on the system.

For use with Multiport boards that use minor numbers > 255.

5. Installation Instructions

Depending on the format:

If this ptf was delivered on a diskette, as root:

     # pkgadd -d diskette1 

should install this driver.

Otherwise if you have a file such as "ptf139" which is in a "stream" format
then as root: 

     # pkgadd -d `pwd`/ptf147 

will work.

6. Troubleshooting

Try login in on a port with a minor number > 255. The login should work. If
you see a message such as < UX: login setava() *avaptr failed, LOGNAME=foo >
please contact UnixWare Support.
